Marcus is a bankruptcy lawyer, well respected by colleges and judges alike. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1989 and practices before the United States Bankruptcy Court, District Courts, and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. Mr. Tiggs has exclusively practiced in the bankruptcy area since being admitted to the bar. He represents debtors, creditors and trustees, including bankruptcy litigation and appeals before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Over the years Marcus has represented over a thousand clients in restructuring and reorganizing debts. Marcus’ clients include individuals, businesses, notable celebrates, creditors and Trustees.

Special Certifications: He is a Certified Specialist, Bankruptcy Law, State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. The State Bar certifies legal specialists who have gone beyond the standard licensing requirements. Marcus is one of less than 200 California bankruptcy attorneys (less than 75 in Los Angeles County alone) who have made this grade.

Honors and Awards:
Mr. Tiggs is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. An AV rating is the highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

Marcus was nominated and selected as a Southern California Super Lawyer, 2006, 2017-2018 ; and Southern California “Top 100 Bankruptcy Lawyers”.

Pro-Bono/Community Service: Marcus strongly believes in giving back to the community. For this reason, he has volunteered his bankruptcy legal expertise to the following organizations: Los Angeles County Bar Association Public Counsel’s Debtor Assistance Project (providing legal assistance to low-income debtors); Mesereau, Ephraim, Villaraigosa (MEV) Legal Clinic (helping low-income individuals); and Cal State Fullerton College Legal Clinic (mentoring students, while proving legal advice to low/moderate income individuals). In addition, Mr Tiggs provides at least 50 hours per year in pro bono legal services.

Professor/Speaker: Mr. Tiggs is an adjunct law professor at UWLA School of Law and a returning lecturer for Bridging the Gap, Los Angeles County Bar Association.
